'It's an age-old thing: the sailor story'

With The Master sciSCREEN event, sponsored by the Cardiff School of Social Sciences, coming up next week, below is a link to an interesting interview in Time Out with the director, Paul Thomas Anderson:

‘It’s an age-old thing: the sailor story. The sailor who’s lost on land but at home on the seas. But I didn’t have enough plot or momentum, and this story started to come together a lot more when Lancaster Dodd, the Master, came into it. Then it was clear that there was no going back.’

Speakers at the sciSCREEN event that follows the 5.45 screening of The Master at Chapter on Monday 10^th December include Professor Ralph Fevre on the curious appeal of new religious movements, Susan Bisson on representations of mental trauma on film, and Professor Jon Bisson on post-traumatic stress disorder. Other speakers are still to be confirmed.
