Our next sciSCREEN event will be a screening and discussion of Inception at Chapter Arts Centre on Friday, August 27th at 5.45pm. The speakers for this event are still to be confirmed, but we expect the discussion to cover ground such as the neuroscience of memory, the presentation of the urban environment, and ethics in corporate behaviour.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, the director of Momento and The Dark Knight, Inception stars Leonardo di Caprio as a corporate spy, able to extract secrets from within the subconscious mind. Inception was described by Warner Brothers as "contemporary sci-fi action feature set within the architecture of the mind", with a tag line of 'This Summer, Your Mind is the Scene of the Crime', which suggests that the film will provide plenty of provocative ideas and images for sciSCREEN to discuss.
